The Scotch Whisky Experience is a major visitor attraction situated on the prestigious Royal Mile in Edinburgh.

The Distillery
An immersive experience guided by the ‘spirit’ of the distillery owner, Douglas McIntyre, the visitor becomes part of the whisky-making process, exploring  Scotland’s diverse whisky regions and the flavours that the countryside imparts to its whiskies.

Sensory Rooms
The visitor discovers how Scotland’s majestic location influences the whiskies' flavour and character, followed by a  tutored selection and tasting of Scotch Single Malt Whisky.

The Diageo Claive Vidiz Whisky Collection
The whisky tour culminates in the vault, containing the world’s largest Scotch Whisky collection, dating back to the 19th Century.

The centre also offers a full dining,  bar and conference facilities and a whisky school.

Project objectives​​​

• Redevelop the Scotch Whisky experience in its entirety

• Strip out the existing experience

• Renovate the external and internal grade A/B listed building

• Introduce new branding and wayfinding  scheme

• Maximise visitor flow through the experience

• Increase visitor numbers to over 300,000 per annum

• Make the tour accessible to over 20 languages, including British and American sign language
